Ashland Oregon - Southern Oregon


At first glance Ashland appears to be strictly a cultured destination. The majority of the people coming to Ashland, Oregon are here for one reason "theatre" however; there is more to come to Ashland for than that.

Salmon and Steelhead Trout fishing in crystal clean rivers and streams of the Rogue River Valley is quite popular and world renowned.

The Pacific Crest National Historic Trail can be found for hiking or research at Mount Ashland in the Siskiyou and Rogue River National Forests.

In the winter there is excellent downhill and cross-country skiing at Mount Ashland Ski Area.
Southern Oregon State College is very popular and has many students attending.

The Southern Oregon Shakespearean Festival is Ashland' biggest festival with nearly 300,000 people attending each year. Ashland, Oregon likes to think it's the hospitality that brings the tourism back here each year. The Shakespearean Festival, which most people come for, has turned this sleepy mill town into a facsimile of Tudor England. Stretching over much of the year the festival attracts all manner of artists to settle in Ashland, Oregon and has given the town a cosmopolitan air about it.

Mt. Ashland

When the snow falls, skiers and snowboarders enjoy the less crowded slopes and trails at Mt. Ashland.
Diamond Lake with groomed cross-country skiing, snowmobile trails, ice-skating, and snow skating on Mt. Bailey. Cross-country skiing or snowshoeing at Crater Lake is a breathtaking experience.
