Crater Lake Oregon - Southern Oregon

Crater Lake

At 1932 feet deep, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States and the seventh deepest lake in the world. The Crater that holds the lake was made by an explosive, volcanic eruption many years ago. A prospector searching for gold who stumbled upon the Sapphire blue high mountain lake in 1853 founded Crater Lake.
Beauty is what has made this one of the most visited spots in the northwest.
Crater Lake is now a National Historic Park and is located along The Pacific Crest Trail in southern Oregon. Since 1902 it is the only National Park in Oregon.

Crater Lake National Park

Where Mother Nature made some of her most scenic wonders on highway 97 and 138.
Many miles of hiking and cross-country skiing trails can be found within the park.
Camping is available at Mazama Village.
Surrounding Crater Lake National Park are several National Forests that offer outdoor activities. The most popular spot for recreational activities is Diamond Lake located a few miles north of the park. Diamond Lake offers swimming, boating, fishing, camping, hiking, biking, and snowmobile trails.
