Butch Cassidy - Cherokee Trail or The Trail of Tears Along the southern route of the Cherokee Trail was a popular hideout for a Utah native named Butch Cassidy and 100 members of his "Wild Bunch Outlaw Gang". By the time of the California Gold Rush the trail was already serving Front Range, connecting between The Santa Fe Trail to the south and Trail of Oregon to the north.
